Use of Uniform Vehicle Code (UVC)

The Uniform Vehicle Code (UVC) as referenced in this training is published by the National Committee on Uniform Traffic Laws and Ordinances (NCUTLO), a private non-profit organization dedicated to providing uniformity of traffic laws and regulations through the timely dissemination of information and model legislation on traffic safety issues. Almost every State has adopted most of the model codes at one time or another since it was first released in the 1920's. While NCUTLO (http://www.ncutlo.org) does not provide this information for free, almost all of it is available for free in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) publication: "Resource Guide on Laws Related to Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety."  A free copy of the CD-ROM may be requested through the NHTSA wesite (www.nhtsa.dot.gov) or by calling NHTSA at 202-366-1739.
